Dedication
With sincere regrets the Hammond Kiwanis Club said "goodbye" in December 2008 to one of its veteran members, Andy Gibbs. From the inception of the tour de Tangipahoa Andy was a major driving force. As manager of Albertson, he obtained very generous donations of food and other items that assured the tour's success. Because of Andy's dedication to the Tour for 17 years the Hammond Kiwanis Club dedicates the tour to his memory. |

Since 1940 the Hammond Kiwanis Club has served as a force for good in the Hammond area. During the past year alone, the Hammond Kiwanis Club: fed needy families; supported public education through the Adopt A School Program; sponsored Terrific Kids and BUGS programs; presented Project Impact, a dynamic presentation that encourages safe driving practices for the young at all parish schools; offered activities for residents of a local nursing home; provided infant car safety seats for those who could not afford them; sponsored Key Clubs that encourage leadership and responsibility among teens; supported the Fanfare Outreach Program, the Boy Scouts and youth athletic teams; participated in the Louisiana State Summer Special Olympics; and said "yes!" when called upon from time to time to assist and support various programs that enhance the quality of life in the communities we serve.
Your participation in the Tour de' Tangipahoa will help assure that the good works of this dedicated and hard-working club will continue. |
